This book is the sixth volume of a series written by Dr D N Shankara Bhat, as part of the effort to provide a grammar true to Kannada’s nativity. It contains two chapters – one pertaining to the usage of embedded sentences and the other related to connecting sentences.
The first chapter deals with how to transform a sentence into a grammatical role or an adverb of another sentence, or an adjectival expression of a word occurring in that sentence. A sentence may be used in such ways by making certain changes to it or even by not making any changes to it but associating it with certain connecting words. The first chapter explains the different ways of doing this.
The next chapter deals with connecting one or more sentences by the use of conjunctions such as ‘mattu’, ‘illavē’, ‘ādare’, the use of suffixes such as ‘ū’ and ‘ō’, or the use of connective forms of verbs like ‘māḍi’, ‘māḍuva’, ‘māḍade’.
In order to foster the tradition of grammar true to the language’s nativity this book uses newly coined scientific words with roots in native Kannada. A glossary in the beginning of the book lists such new words with their meanings.
