Description

This book, which was first published in 1978 as ‘Kannaḍa Vākyagaḷu: Āntarika Rachane Mattu Artha Vyavasthe’ has, with a few modifications, now been reprinted as ‘Kannaḍa Vākyagaḷa Oḷarachane Mattu Arthavyavasthe’. The book importantly deals with the grammatical rules governing the structure of Kannada sentences with the primary purpose of explaining how to understand them.

Kannada Grammars that have been in use for about a thousand years now are mostly attempts at adapting or force-fitting Sanskrit grammatical rules to Kannada. But there is a huge difference between the grammars of Sanskrit that belongs to the Indo-European family and Kannada that belongs to a completely different language family known as Dravidian. As a result, such previous attempts to explain the rules of Kannada grammar have been futile.

This book is the first attempt at explaining the rules of Kannada grammar. There is also a book being written by the name Kannada Barahada Sollarime, which explains the rules of Kannada grammar in a lot more depth and detail. Six volumes of the book have already been published, and the seventh and final volume is slated to release in a couple of months from now.
